This case is made from a thick saddle leather. The process that was followed in making (tanning) the leather is an ancient technique where vegetable extracts and bark from trees are used to tan the leather. This is such an expensive process that Italy stopped using such a tanning process due it not being economically viable. But there are still some tanneries that continue using this age old proven technique which is environmentally friendly as it avoids the use of harmful chemicals in the leather processing.
This leather and case will age very well and the more it is used, the better it will look. The leather has a very natural finish and does not have several coats of paint to hide any natural characteristics of the leather which is typical of cheaper leather bags. The leather used in this case shows any natural markings of the skin and this adds to the beauty and uniqueness of each bag.
